KT's World

July 2005 - In theory, I should have realized long before now that the world does not revolve around me. But, who wants to go around thinking that? Someone can tell you that the world does not revolve around you, but you don't really believe it, do you?

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm at the point now where I can no longer deny it. The world does not revolve around me. And, I know you don't want to hear this, but the world does not revolve around you, either. So, get over it and face the fact that the world revolves around my dog. Seriously. I mean it. The world revolves around my dog.

First, you should know that my dog is a 13-year-old, red-haired Pomeranian. Her name is KT. That's short for Kinsey Teagan but long for a dog that stands less than a foot high and weighs about 10 pounds. You should also know that my dog is blind. And, she's missing quite a few teeth. Yet, somehow, she has overcome these handicaps to take her rightful place at the center of the universe.

Need proof? Well, for one thing, she always seems to find the one spot on the bed that gives me the least amount of room. It's a queen-sized bed, people! All that space and she settles down at the head of the bed, between the two pillows. Not at the foot of the bed or on one side of the bed. No. She's right in the middle of the pillows!

Why does she do this? Because the world revolves around KT and she can. How does she do this, even though she's blind? I don't know, except to say that she must have mysterious powers that go along with having the world revolve around her.

Here's another example. Every morning, KT wakes up between 7:00 and 7:30. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, which is usually around 2:00 a.m. She's up and at 'em about five hours later, prancing around until I drag myself out of bed to put her out. How does she do it? I refer you to the aforementioned mysterious powers.

Sometimes I play a little game where I pretend that I still have some control over the situation. Once in a while, just for kicks, I set the alarm clock. Sometimes, I set it for 8:00 a.m. Occasionally, I go for broke and set it for 9:00. I say to myself, tonight's the night I will actually get a decent amount of sleep. Yeah, right. In my dreams, maybe. I know exactly what time I'll be getting up. Because I know that it's KT's world. I just live in it.
