The Dilemma

February 13, 2011 - The website dictionary.com defines the word "dilemma" as "a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives." Trust me, there's no dilemma when it comes to whether or not to see this movie. The choice is clear: Don't do it!

The movie revolves around two friends, who also happen to be business partners. Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James) have a lot going on. They're trying to sell their high-performance electric vehicle engine to Chrysler. While Nick works on fine-tuning the design, Ronny works on his plan to propose to his girlfriend (Jennifer Connelly). During the course of his preparations, he discovers that Nick's wife (Winona Ryder) is having an affair with a tatted-up young dude named Zip (Channing Tatum). Ronny's dilemma is whether or not to tell Nick about the affair.

Overall review: * What a disappointment! With Ron Howard directing a talented cast (that also includes Queen Latifah), you'd think this movie would be a lot better than it is. Unfortunately, what you get is a film billed as a comedy which turns out to be not funny at all. The set-up takes too long and the payoff (if you want to call it that) isn't worth the wait. The script is so bad that I can't even believe actors of this caliber would lower themselves to saying such ridiculous lines. Maybe the cast and crew had a dilemma of their own when deciding whether to make this movie. If so, they made the wrong choice. Don't you make the same mistake.
