Laws of Attraction

April 8, 2013 - Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore play battling divorce attorneys who fall in love in this romcom from 2004. Nora Dunn shows up as a judge, and Frances Fisher sparkles as Moore's wild but wise mom.

Moore plays Audrey Woods, a buttoned-up divorce attorney who indulges her insecurities by binging on sugary snacks. She meets Daniel Rafferty (Brosnan) when he takes over as opposing counsel in a high-profile trial. Rafferty is rumpled and emotional, but he's also very good. Soon, New York is captivated by any divorce case that features Woods vs. Rafferty.

Despite their differences, Woods and Rafferty find themselves attracted to each other. But, Woods calls it off when Rafferty uses their relationship to win a case. It takes a feuding pair of rich punks and a trip to Ireland to set things right.

Overall review: ** Brosnan, Moore and Fisher are really the only reasons to watch. The casting of Fisher is particularly inspiring given her high-profile relationship with Clint Eastwood. The cast does manage to make this a watchable movie. But, if you don't watch it, you won't be missing anything that you haven't seen a hundred times before.
