Love, Wedding, Marriage

July 7, 2012 - Actor Dermot Mulroney moves behind the camera to direct this film about a marriage counselor whose own marriage is threatened when her parents announce plans to divorce. The cast features Mandy Moore, Kellan Lutz (of the Twilight movies), James Brolin and Jane Seymour.

Moore plays Ava, a newly married marriage counselor in or near California's wine country. Her husband, Charlie (Lutz), works at a winery. After a few weeks of wedded bliss, they hit a rough patch when Ava's parents (Brolin and Seymour) announce their intention to divorce. Ava starts ignoring her own husband as she does everything she can think of to get her parents back together in time to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.

Overall review: ** The familiar cast (which includes cameos from Christopher Lloyd and Alyson Hannigan) manages to make this film watchable despite characters that, for the most part, really aren't very likeable. The only one who deserves any sympathy is Charlie. If he had demanded a divorce, I wouldn't blame him.
